Brooklyn Law School

freelance Technical Project Manager hired full-time as Online Communications Program Manager

Rebrand and website relaunch
When this initiative kicked off, the law school had not revisited their digital strategy, design or architecture since their first site was launched in the late 90s. Their single external site encompassed both public recruitment centered content with internal password protected content nestled into outward facing pages. It was difficult to navigate and was affecting the ability of the school to attract top students. Over the course of eight months I worked with senior level administration, student focus groups, and the technology committee to formalize architecture, refresh existing content, and establish a process for developing a strategy for the institution. I grew partnerships with third party vendors and the launch of the website resulted in one of the most successful recruiting years. We won a Sitecore award that year for best education website. I also lead the efforts to establish and redesign their Sharepoint intranet working with internal stakeholders, outside agencies and the school’s IT department. The project was viewed as a success by the student body and faculty as class-sites were made customizable, content streamlined, and communication procedures were tailored and refined. In addition, the complex registration process and course catalogs were imbedded within the site to make the user experience seamless and easily accessible. I trained content managers, lead governance discussions, and worked through ongoing digital communications issues.

During this time I lead weekly production meetings and worked with our internal database administrators we established a real-time project management database that allowed multiple stakeholders to manage initiatives proactively. This allowed fundraising, events, CLE programs, alumni relations, and external affairs departments to work together more efficiently to track deliverables, due dates, and costs that enabled the groups to increase productivity by 30%.

As a program manager, I was responsible for managing external email and print communications for the school including Alumni Affairs, Development, Continuing Legal Education Programs and Events Office. I worked with multiple internal and external stakeholders to produce production, communications and marketing calendars to maximize productivity while tailoring messaging to the specific audience. As communications manager, I maintained the Google Analytics and Adwords account for the institution, providing reports and conducting hands-on campaign management for academic programs. Over the course of my tenure at the school working with other communications officers, I participated in building the school’s social media program from the ground up, educating stakeholders on best practices and maintaing sites in a hands-on capacity.

As a technical project manager I helped lead the school to launch multiple mini-sites using Drupal and WordPress including authorship.brooklaw.edu, practicum.brooklaw.edu, tsi.brooklaw.edu, and refinblog.com. It was a pleasure for me to work with the talented students at Brooklyn Law School.
